St. Luke's Methodist Church is a large, fast-growing, church with multiple campuses and a significant outreach to the community. Our Child Development Center has expanded into three locations because of the high demand of excellence that we strive for while enriching our children as they grow.

Our mission at St. Luke's is to share God's love and bring hope to the world. We accomplish that by sharing the message of Christ, growing in our faith, and serving the community. We are seeking individuals who have a love for God and a passion for working with children.

We currently have a need for Full-Time Lead Teachers. This is a great opportunity for individuals with degrees in Early Childhood Development or Elementary Education.

Position Purpose:

The lead teacher has responsibility for planning the daily program for children within an assigned age group. Plans and implements activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of the children under her/his care. Responsible for the personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities, specialized programs and discipline of the children. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness, and safety. Keeps parents appropriately informed of the progress of their child on a daily basis, consulting with the Center Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans the daily program for children with an assigned development group which will encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Creates an environment in which children can learn in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the church and center.
  • Treats each child with dignity and respect.
  • Participates in all staff training sessions, meetings and programs as requested by the Director and as sponsored by the center. Each teacher is responsible for completing their required training hours each year. All teachers are required to attend annual Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Sing and parties in which parents are invited.
  • Maintains professional conduct in working with parents and staff, as well as visitors and the general public.
  • Performs other duties of center staff as required. Including but not limited to cleaning, cooking and driving, in the in temporary absences of the people in these positions, as requested.

Position Details:

  • The Center’s operating hours are M- F from 6:30AM – 6:00PM
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Vocational Certification, CDA/CCP or higher education degree in related field is preferred
  • 6 months to a 1 year of teaching experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass an Oklahoma State required finger print/background check

Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Communicate daily information with families regarding the needs and progress of each child.
  • Uses appropriate tools to development and create lesson plans
  • Provides a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and challenge as the children develop.
  • Comply with OK Department of Human Services Licensing, Oklahoma Health Department, and USDA-CACF guidelines and requirements.

Accountability:

  • Must be able to assume frequent positions including crawling, bending and kneeling at least 50% of the scheduled work time.
  • Must be able to lift children, engage in floor activities, singing, and playing indoors/outdoors.
